Kondapalli
Carved from soft wood. Painted with pure joy.
The village of Kondapalli in Andhra Pradesh has been producing wooden toys and figurines for over four hundred years. Artisans here work exclusively with Ponniki, a soft, lightweight wood native to the Eastern Ghats carving, joining, and coating each piece with a tamarind-seed paste before applying vivid natural colors. The characteristic brightness is intentional: Kondapalli work celebrates life.
From deities and animals to village scenes and traditional musicians, every Kondapalli figurine holds a recognizable cultural moment. Our collection features pieces that carry the tradition forward made by families in Kondapalli village whose knowledge of this craft has passed through generations, resisting the ease of mechanized production entirely.
Not just decoration. Each piece is a small world.
